CAIRO – 27 January 2020: The Egyptian ambassador in China, Mohammed al Badri, said Sunday that no symptoms of coronavirus were spotted in any member of the Egyptian community in China, adding that there are 350 Egyptians in Wuhan, the epicentre of coronavirus outbreak.

Al Badri added during an interview with “Al Hayah Al youm” (Life today) show that China had not taken any procedures regarding Egyptians arriving there as Egypt is not a source of the growing outbreak. Al Badri said that many Egyptians cancelled their flights to China for fear that they get infected by the contagious disease.

Al Badri pointed out that he keeps an open communication channel with the Chinese authorities in order to be aware of the regulations and procedures taken to avoid the highly contagious disease and pass them to members of the Egyptian community in the Asian state.

Egyptian minister of health, Hala Zayed, inspected earlier on Sunday the quarantines at Cairo International airport and Sharm El Sheikh airport to check the preparations taken to ban any access of the disease to Egypt.

China's National Health Commission said on Sunday the ability of the new coronavirus to spread is strengthening and infections could continue to rise, after more than 2,000 people were infected in China and 56 have died.
