Egypt Air suspends flights to Baghdad

CAIRO - 7 January 2018: Egypt Air has suspended flights to Baghdad Wednesday-Friday due to "the instability of security conditions" in the Iraqi capital.

In a Tuesday statement, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said the decision comes to ensure the safety of passengers and airplanes until security is established in the city.

The ministry it is following the situation in coordination with all the concerned parties to evaluation the conditions and resume flights when appropriate.

Travelers who will miss their flights can call 1717 to change their tickets.

The situation in Iraq is becoming unpredictable after the U.S. killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike near Baghdad Airport.
