President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi receives warming reception from Coptic Christians at 2020 Christmas Eve mass at the Cathedral of the New Administrative Capital- Egypt Today/Karim Abdel Aziz

CAIRO - 6 January 2020: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has attended 2020 Christmas Eve mass at the Cathedral of Christ’s Nativity in the New Administrative Capital on Monday.

The President Congratulated the attendees and all Copts for their celebration, whing them merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria led Christmas mass, which has been attended by 11 Ministers, a number of lawmakers and state officials.

On his official Twitter account, President Abdel Fatah al Sisi wished all Egyptian Coptic Christians a Merry Christmas, praying to Allah to bless and protect the nation.




Last year, President Sisi attended the mass at the Catherdal, extended his best wishes to all Coptic Christians, and congratulated them on the inauguration of the Cathedral.

Coptic Orthodox Christians, who represent approximately 90 percent of Egypt’s Christians, break their 43-day fast and celebrate Christmas on 7 January based on the Coptic calendar.
