CAIRO – 6 January 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi extended his greetings to the Egyptian Christian expats on Coptic Christmas.

Sisi sent several cables to all of Egypt’s embassies and consulates saying: “Brothers and sisters, the Copts of Egypt abroad, with all happiness and pleasure I send you my sincere greetings and best wishes on Coptic Christmas.”

“I’d like to sincerely wish you a happy New Year, full of success and prosperity on this occasion,” he added.

As a representative for President Sisi, Presidential Secretary Mohamed Negm visited the Coptic Evangelical Church on Sunday to offer greetings and attend the celebrations.

On December 30, Manpower Minister Mohamed Safaan said Tuesday, January 7 will be an official holiday for the private sector employees.

"Coptic Christmas is a fully paid vacation in accordance with Law no. 12 of 2003. An employee may work on that day and be compensated with double the pay," the minister added. The Manpower Ministry instructed its directorates in different governorates to notify private facilities and companies about the holiday.
