CAIRO – 4 December 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi sent a message to Republic of Congo's President and head of the African Union (AU) High Level Committee Denis Sassou Nguesso on the Libyan situation.

Sassou-Nguesso praised Sisi’s role in enhancing peace and security at the African level under Cairo’s chairmanship of the AU, warning that Africa will be the main affected party by the Libyan crisis.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday reporting that the message was delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Hamdi Loza.

Sassou-Nguesso also stressed that the High Level Committee is keen on assuming its main role to prevent any escalation in Libya.
