CAIRO – 21 December 2019: Egypt and the Maldives held on Thursday talks at the Foreign Ministry head quarter in Cairo to mark the golden jubilee of launching their diplomatic ties.

Assistant foreign minister for Asian affairs Hani Selim led the Egyptian delegation in the talks, while State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khalil headed the Maldivian side.

The talks tackled a full revision of all aspects of bilateral relations, probing ways of boosting cooperation, especially in the areas of scientific research, trade, industry, investment, agriculture, culture and environment, along with fighting terrorism.

Discussions also took up regional and international issues of mutual interest and coordination at international forums.

On other side, Egypt's Mufti Shawky Allam met with Maldivian Minister of Education Ahmed Riyad to discuss aspects of enhancing cooperation between the Dar Al Ifta and the Maldives.

The Mufti added that the Dar Al Ifta is ready to provide all forms of scientific and legal support to Muslims in the Maldives.

The Mufti also granted the Maldivian Minister of Education a set of Egyptian print and electronic publications
