CAIRO – 19 December 2019: No cases or deaths of swine flu (H1N1 virus) have recorded in Egypt recently according to Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector, Ministry of Health and Population Alaa Eid.

In statements to Egypt Today, on Thursday, Eid denounced that the symptoms of the current cold are same symptoms of H1N1 virus. He explained that the current common cold conditions called ‘seasonal flu’, and not related to the swine flu.

Recently, rumors went viral on social media regarding cases of deaths caused by swine flu inside an international American school located in fifth settlement, leading to a state of panic among parents.

However, Eid affirmed that a delegation from the ministry headed to the school on Monday and Tuesday, and they took all the medical preventive measures needed.

For its part, the school said in another statement that they are watching closely all of the students, and that they informed the ministry of health as short as they knew heard about this regard. They explained that namely, one student did not go to the school for five days in a row.

According to Eid, the school informed the ministry that they would suspend the study soon due to the Christmas vacation and not because of any infectious or epidemic diseases.
