 CAIRO- 17 December 2019: Founder of Youth Love Egypt initiative gave a speech at the climate change session of the World Youth Forum, calling on raising awareness in this regard, especially in Egypt.

During his speech in Sharm el-Sheikh, Ahmed Fathi called on announcing a “national day for beach cleanliness” from Egypt and beyond in African countries. He demanded a new law to reduce the use of plastic bags.

Fathi said limiting the use of plastic bags does not harm the owners of plastic factories, rather, it will lead to replace the single use bags with more environment-friendly products.

In his speech, Fathi discussed the "Clean Shores" initiative, which was launched in February, and its aim in reducing the use of plastics in partnership with the United Nations Information Center in Cairo.

The campaign was launched to clean the banks of the Nile River in Cairo, Giza and Assiut, as well as the Ismailia and Hurghada beaches, and the shores of the Mediterranean in a number of other countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
