Local Development min. dismisses heads of Marj, Helwan districts

CAIRO - 11 December 2019: Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy dismissed on Tuesday the heads of Helwan and al-Marj districts due to the spread and accumulation of garbage, problems with sanitation and construction material waste in the streets of the districts.

The minister appointed Khaled Abdel-Aal, the governor of Cairo, as secretary and acting chief of Helwan district and appointed the secretary of al-Marj district as acting chief of the district. The minister gave both officials 15 days to fix the crisis.

The governor of Cairo also gave the cleaning companies in al-Marj and Helwan a period of 10 days to improve services in the streets.
