CAIRO - 26 November 2019: Lithuania encourages Egypt’s efforts in empowering women and countering all forms of violence, according to a Tuesday statement by the Lithuanian embassy.

Gender based violence is still a rampant challenge across the globe, with one of every two women facing sexual harassment, and one of three facing physical or sexual assault, the statement said.

From Monday to Dec. 10, the embassy illuminates its premises in orange light to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The reflection of the orange lighting on the Nile, as the embassy overlooks the river, would be a call to work together on ending violence against women without turning a blind eye to such crimes, the statement added.
