CAIRO – 16 June 2017: Qatar must take ‘”measures” to stop funding terrorism, interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbors, and using its media platforms in inciting violence, according to Thursday statements by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During his two-day visit to the U.S., Sheikh Abdullah reviewed with his American counterpart, Rex Tillerson, the measures UAE has taken against Qatar due to its “continues support to extremists,” according to Sky News Arabia.

Sheikh Abdullah praised Tillerson’s role in deepening the U.S.’s relations with its regional partners and “his decisive stance” against extremism.

The Emirati minister agreed to Washington’s proposal on a diplomatic approach to tackle threats to American-Emirati interests and the region’s stability in general.

UAE, along with Egypt Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya’s eastern-based government severed diplomatic ties with Doha on June 5 over accusations to Qatar of backing terrorist groups.
