CAIRO - 11 November 2019: The 17th session of AMCEN 2019 conference that is meant by environmental sustainability in Africa is currently taking place at the Olive Convention Centre, Durban, South Africa, as it is set to be held from November 4-15.

The conference is attended by the Youth Love Egypt participates represented in its founder Ahmed Fathy.

The Conference will be held under the theme "Taking action for Environmental Sustainability and Prosperity in Africa." The pre-AMCEN CSO dialogue sessions have been planned in partnership with The Pan Africa Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)on the sideline of AMCEN, The focus of the seventeenth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) is on the need for African countries to take practical action, including implementation of policies, relevant regional and global frameworks, for the continent to attain environmental sustainability and prosperity and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement and Africa's Agenda 2063. The regional consultations meeting will bring together Major Groups and Stakeholders (MGS) accredited to UNEP member states, international organizations, UN agencies, and the private sector.

This meeting will offer an opportunity for African civil society organizations to discuss pressing environmental priorities, opportunities, and challenges in the continent. The expected outcome of the meeting will be a regional statement by civil society to the seventeenth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) whose outcomes are geared towards informing and influencing AMCEN deliberations in keeping with the theme of the conference.

The planned sessions will have specific objectives with the main aim being preparing
participants for effective engagement in AMCEN as well as coming up with common
positions to input into AMCEN.

The sessions include Launch of Oxfam’s policy brief on solutions in to reducing vulnerability in the face of climate change , A Validation Training Workshop on Index monitoring in tracking tools for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) , Regional Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) Consultative Workshop on REDD • A Policy dialogue on clean energy investment and access in Africa and the launch of ACSEA [1] project.

Youth love Egypt foundation will present its project " clean shores " as a regional project that aims at implementing many clean up campaigns all over Egypt to fight plastic pollution, in addition to many African countries like Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria.
