CAIRO – 9 November 2019: Countries supporting the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization are dedicating their human and financial resources to fight the Egyptian state, a former senior Muslim Brotherhood member has said.

Tarek al-Beshbeshi told Egypt Today in an interview on Friday that since the terrorist organization was ousted from Egypt’s ruling, it has declared war against Egypt and its people.

"The Muslim Brotherhood has resorted to terrorism, violence, chaos and vandalism in an attempt to return to power, and despite that they sought the help of certain foreign countries and parties, they failed miserably,” Beshbeshi added in his interview.

He further added that the terrorist group is currently firmly focusing on social media and the spread of fake news to sow discord and chaos among Egyptians.

In September, an Egyptian court sentenced 11 senior Muslim Brotherhood figures to life in prison on charges of spying for the Palestinian Hamas group.

These figures include Brotherhood's supreme guide Mohamed Badie and his deputy Khairat al-Shater, who were both handed life sentences.

Five other Brotherhood members were sentenced to jail terms ranging from seven to 10 years for "committing crimes in collaboration with foreign organizations" namely Hamas and the Iranian-backed Shiite militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon, the source said.
