CAIRO – 24 October 2019: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday evening attended a dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Russia, on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Forum from Oct. 23-24, Egyptian presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The dinner was held in honor of the African presidents participating in the forum, which is the first of its kind.

The Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum is held at the Sochi Olympic Park Main Media Centre and is co-chaired by Putin, and Sisi, as the chairman of the African Union.

During the forum in Sochi, Putin said that Egypt and Russia cooperate in fighting against terrorism. The Russian president also referred to the trade cooperation between the two countries, the construction of the Russian Industrial Zone in Egypt, and the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear plant.

Sisi, during the forum, met with the Russian president and invited him to visit Egypt to the ceremony of El-Dabaa nuclear power plant, which would be established by Egypt and Russia under a 2015 deal near Egypt’s Al-Alamein.

Putin on Wednesday said Russia allocated $190 million to the infrastructure of Egypt's Dabaa nuclear plant.

Putin said that Egypt and Russia cooperate in fighting against terrorism. The Russian president also referred to the trade cooperation between the two countries, the construction of the Russian Industrial Zone in Egypt, and the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear plant.
