CAIRO, Oct 20 (MENA) - Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati opened on Sunday the second edition of Cairo Water Week which is held under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The five-day conference will run till Thursday.The CWW activities began by screening a documentary on the life of farmers and the importance of rationalizing water.

Held annually by the Ministry of Irrigation, the conference is deemed one of the largest water-related events at the national, regional, and international levels.

Cairo Water Week 2019 will address the main theme “Responding to Water Scarcity” through five sub-themes overarching a broad spectrum of the water scarcity.

Under each sub-theme, variety of topics will be covered, including achieving SDGs under Water Scarcity, cooperation in water sector
research and innovation in facing water scarcity, climate change impact, mitigation and non-conventional water resources.

The event will be an opportunity for academics, scholars, and policy makers as well as water resources experts from all around the world to present and discuss the key issues, plans and actions related to responding to the challenges of water scarcity.
