CAIRO - 12 October 2019: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was invited by South Sudanese President Salva Kiir to attend the opening sessions of peace negotiations between Sudanese government and the armed groups in South Sudan due to convene mid-October, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement on Saturday.

The invitation was handed to President Sisi by the Sudanese Minister of Energy and Kiir’s special envoy on Saturday, Rad added

Peace negotiations come in a continuation of the Egyptian-sponsored peace meeting Egypt’s Ain Sokhna last September among the conflicting parties after they signed an agreement of peace last year, Radi added.

In 2018, the South Sudan peace accord is signed between South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar, in an attempt to end five years of civil war.

President Sisi voiced his gratitude to Salva Kiir for his invitation, praising the bilateral relations between both countries, Radi said.

In a meeting with Egyptian ambassador in Juba Ahmed Bahaa Eddin last week, South Sudanese President sent his greetings to PResident Sissi for his support to the peace talk process.
