CAIRO - 26 September 2019: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Wednesday with a delegation of Evangelical leaders in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, said the Egyptian presidential spokesman.

The Christian delegation praised Egypt's efforts to establish the bases of stability and moderation in the Middle East. It also hailed the positive steps Egypt has taken towards achieving development and successfully implementing the economic reform program.

The delegation also expressed its full support to the Egyptian stance concerning the decisive confrontation of terrorism.

President Sisi highlighted, during the meeting, Egypt's keenness to enhance communication and understanding with the Egyptian community to work to overcome the challenges facing the two countries.

Sisi also affirmed the country's keenness to promote the principles of equality and the refusal of discrimination between the citizens on bases of religion and sectarianism or any other elements. He also stressed the need to establish the culture of pluralism and acceptance of others, and the importance of implementing these qualities on the ground.

Concerning terrorism, the president affirmed Egypt's leadership of the war against terrorism and extremist thought, while it also carries out economic reforms to meet the aspirations of the Egyptian people.

Combating terrorism requires joint work and the adoption of a strategy at the international level, which aims at eliminating the sources of funding terrorism and supporting this global threat politically and ideologically.
