CAIRO - 26 September 2019: China cooperates and coordinates with Egypt on international issues alongside international governance with the aim of upholding stability and promoting international relations, said Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqian.

Cooperation between Cairo and Beijing in various fields is booming, the ambassador said, adding that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is deepening.

Ambassador Liao was addressing a celebration held late Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Hosted by the Chinese ambassador, the ceremony was attended by hundreds of guests including Chinese, Egyptian and foreign diplomats.

The event was also attended by Egyptian public figures, parliamentarians, university professors, writers and journalists.

The Egyptian-Chinese relations, under the leadership of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi and his Chines counterpart Xi Jinping, have become more distinguished and comprehensive, the ambassador said.

Egypt has witnessed the first step of China's journey of success when Egypt was the first Arab and African state to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1956, he added.

Chinese investments in Egypt hit seven billion dollars, Lioa said, noting that the number of Chinese tourists to Egypt reached 500,000 in 2018.
