CAIRO, Sept 21 (MENA) - Egypt's Health and Population Ministry participated Saturday in celebrating the first ever World Patient Safety Day (WPSD), which falls on September 17.

The complex of the new comprehensive health insurance departments in Port Said governorate has been lit orange, the color selected for celebrating this occasion.

Several archaeological landmarks including Giza Pyramids were also lit orange.

In cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), the ministry has taken serious steps to adhere to WHO patient safety standards as part of the new health insurance system, the ministry said in a statement.

On the first-ever World Patient Safety Day, the WHO is launching a global campaign to create awareness of patient safety and urge people to show their commitment to making healthcare safer.
