Sisi urges G20 to concert effort to combat terrorism

CAIRO – 12 June 2017: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi stressed on the challenge of combating terrorism and confirmed that these challenges require concerting efforts between G20 countries, in order to avoid inconsistency in actions taken, during a speech at the G20 summit in Berlin on Monday.

President Sisi also stated that illegal immigration is considered another has been a result of instability, especially in the Arab region, and had an impact on all societies worldwide.

Sisi stipulated that countries should avoid selective steps in face of different challenges.
The president also highlighted the economic reforms undertaken by Egypt, which would attract foreign investments in the country.

The sixth German-Egyptian Joint Economic Committee kicked off early Monday in Berlin, with the attendance of President Sisi.

The committee is also attended by the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Brigitte Zypries and a number of key German companies, and the Egyptian Minister of Industry Tarek Kabil.

Before the conference, Sisi met Zypries where they discussed economic cooperation and methods of boosting bilateral trade between both countries.

President Sisi’s attendance comes in response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s invitation, issued during her March visit to Cairo in recognition of Egypt’s ability as a regional powerbroker to promote collaboration in all fields between African countries and the G20 forum.
