CAIRO – 31 August 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi asserted on Saturday the importance of Japan as a strategic partner for Egypt.

During a meeting with CEO of Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation Takehiko Kakiuchi, President Sisi affirmed Japan's importance as a strategic partner to Egypt, commending the Japanese company's activities in Egypt.

He further pointed out to the available opportunities for Mitsubishi to expand in Egypt, particularly in light of the national projects that the country is implementing.

On Friday, the Egyptian President voiced his keenness on promoting economic relations with the Japanese side.

President Sisi underscored that Egypt possesses capabilities enabling it to act as a key hub for all Japanese industries and a gateway to the African, Middle East and European markets.

For his part, Kakiuchi reviewed the projects that Mitsubishi is considering implementing in Egypt in the coming phase, including the subway project.

Kakyoshi said that he will continue to consult and coordinate with the Egyptian side during the next phase in order to implement the company's projects in Egypt, and explore opportunities to expand its activities.
