YOKOHAMA, 28 Aug 2019: President Abdel Fatah El Sisi, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and UN Secretary General António Guterres will address the opening session of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) to kick off Wednesday.

AU Commission head Moussa Faki Mahamat, director of the UN Development Program Achim Steiner and Chief Executive Officer of the International Finance Corporation Philippe Le Houérou will also speak in the session, MENA learnt.

Sisi and Abe will co-chair the summit meetings to run till Friday.

The TICAD conference aims at launching a new phase of strategic partnership between Japan and African countries based on mutual understanding, in addition to increasing Japan's contributions to Africa's development.

In October, Abe invited President Sisi to attend the 7th TICAD summit.
