CAIRO - 13 August 2019: Egypt's National Council for Women (NCW) has received three cases of sexual harassment against two ladies and a girl during the first two days of Eid al-Adha, said the council in a statement on Monday.

In Minya govenorate, Upper Egypt, a father has reported the council that his 14-year-old daughter was sexually harassed by a man and filed a lawsuit against the harasser, said Amal Abdel-Moneim, head of Complaints Office at the NCW.

The second case was reported in Cairo as a woman was harassed while she was going for shopping at a market. Meanwhile, the third case occurred against a woman who was harassed verbally in Alexandria.

Ahead of Eid al-Adha, the NCW announced that it set up a hotline on 15115 to receive any possible sexual violation cases during the Eid.

Last year, Complaints against sexual harassment incidents witnessed a severe decline during Eid al-Adha, according to Head of the Complaints Office Manager of the National Council for Women (NCW).

Also, the Cairo Foundation for Development and Law (CFDL) launched an operation room to monitor and document any cases of sexual harassment against women during the four days of Eid al-Adha.

The CFDL established a hotline on 01210009192 to provide the legal assistance and complaints from the sexual harassment survivors, the center announced in a statement on Saturday.

“The center receives testimonies on ccd.eg2010@gmail.com, and through our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/CCD.egy ,” the statement read.
