East Med Egypt, the franchise owner of the Roland-Garros Clubs and tennis Academies in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa, is delighted to sign the first tennis club for Roland-Garros clubs in Egypt.
East Med Egypt is an Egyptian joint stock company with a French-Egyptian partnership. Its board is headed by Bernard Besset, a French businessman expert in the field of sports and real estate investment in France and chairman of a French company Foncier. Its board of directors includes a group of Egyptian and French businessmen, including Ismail El Shafei, Chairman of the Egyptian Tennis Federation.
After more than a year of negotiations, the company signed the exclusive partnership agreement for the Roland-Garros clubs in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa in December 2018 in the presence of Bernard Giudicelli president of the French Tennis Federation and captain Ismaeil El Shafei president of the Egyptian Tennis Federation.
The company seeks to establish and establish sporting entities bearing the name of Roland-Garros throughout Egypt, especially in the urban development projects established by the State, adding to the Egyptian sports facilities as well as supporting sports and athletes on the entire Egyptian map besides creating job opportunities and supporting Egyptian tourism.
The company operates based on a specific strategy to introduce tennis game to Egyptian youth through its academies and clubs and the formation of an Egyptian generation capable of competing in the World Tennis Championships. The company will host international tournaments in the ITF Championships as well as amateur local championships in Egypt and competitions for young players to develop the game.
On this basis, the company signed its first contract in Egypt through a partnership with Arabia Holding to establish the first club and academy of Roland-Garros in Egypt near the pyramids area, which has the oldest trace in history.
The company's first project at Sun Capital in the Pyramids area is 42 acres, consisting of a main stadium with capacity of 7000 spectators, 24 training courses, sports complex, health club, medical center, hotel and media center. This is in addition to a sports school with international standards for specialized education in Egypt. The size of the project investments is estimated by more than 2 billion Egyptian pounds.
The company affirms its continuous efforts as a national company to contribute to bringing foreign investments to Egypt and to serve the objectives and policies of the Egyptian state in economic reform to serve the implementation of the 2030 vision for sustainable development.
