CAIRO - 8 August 2019: Libyan National Army Spokesman Ahmed al-Mismari said that the destruction of a foreign plane in Misrata International Airport on Monday cost the terrorist militias $900 million.

In a press conference, Mismari said the plane had been targeted after its cargo was unloaded in the airport. The cargo plane illegally carried weapons, according to media reports.

News claiming that the foreign plane was carrying civilian objects circulated, but we were present when the cargo was being unloaded; the plane was carrying military stuff, shipped to Misrata, Mismari said.

He added that this came in violation of the international law, the resolutions of the Security Council and the outcome of the political agreement on disbanding the militias and halting their funding.

"The plane cost the terrorist organizations $900 million, and I confirm that it was carrying air defense materials," Mismari said, adding that all the leaders of terrorism were "very upset".
