MINYA, Upper Egypt, July 29 (MENA) - Minya University concluded on Monday its first forum on fighting violence against women which was held in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Titled 'Empowering the role of Egyptian State Universities in Combating Violence Against Women', the forum was co-organized by the unit of combating anti-women violence of the Minya University's Faculty of Law, and the National Council for Women (NCW).

The recommendations of the forum gave high priority to the constitutional amendments concerned with social discrimination, said Dean of the Faculty of Law Hassan Sanad.

The recommendations also focused on means of removing all hindrances facing the improvement of women conditions, the 2030 strategy, as well as encouraging women to take part in the national youth conference and express their opinions, the dean added.

Minya University President Mostafa Abdel Naby Abdel Rahman, meanwhile, thanked the NCW for picking his university to host the pro-women forum, pointing out to the role of the forum in correcting the negative anti-women ideologies alongside raising awareness about women rights and causes.
