CAIRO, July 29 (MENA) - Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese led a mass Monday morning to mark the first anniversary of late Anba Epiphanius, who was killed at the hands of two monks last year.

The late head of Anba Makar Monastery had always adopted moderate thinking and had a good heart, the pope said.

His characteristics had not changed as he assumed the top post, Pope Tawadros further said.

He added that Anba Epiphanius had graduated medical school and worked as a doctor before becoming a monk, then a bishop.

Born on June 27, 1954, Epiphanius was named bishop in 2013 and headed the Anba Makar Monestary until his murder on July 29, 2018.

His killers, monks Isaiah Macarius and Valtawa Maqari, were sentenced to death on April 24, 2019.
