Grand Imam of Al-Azhar denies getting invite to visit Israel

CAIRO – 11 June 2017: The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb denied receiving an invitation to visit Israel “Tel Aviv,” said Al-Azhar Media Center in a Saturday statement.

The media center added that this claim is completely false and Al-Azhar has its historic position in support of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital must be given.

The media center also called the media to check in what it publishes about Al-Azhar and to communicate with the Media Center to verify the validity of the news published.
