CAIRO, July 22 (MENA) - Al-Azhar decried on Monday a terror attack on a checkpoint near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

Categorically denouncing heinous terror acts against innocent people, the religious institution asserted the need for joint international action to eliminate terrorism.

Al-Azhar extended its sincere condolences to the victims' families, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

A suicide car bomb attack claimed the lives of at least 17 people and left 28 others wounded at the first checkpoint on the road leading to Mogadishu airport on Monday, medical officials said.
