RAMALLAH, July 22 (MNEA) - The Palestinian Authority condemned on Thursday Israel's demolition operation in Wadi al-Hummus neighborhood in the village of Sur Bahir, southeast of the occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement on Monday, the Palestinian Authority held Israel fully responsible for the dangerous escalation against the unarmed Palestinians, considering this as part of the "deal of the century".

During an operation which started early Monday, Israel razed eight buildings in the village.

Israel plans to demolish 16 residential buildings in Wadi al-Hummus under the pretext that they were close to the Israeli security fence.

Under the Oslo agreement, the buildings fall in Area A which is under the control of the Palestinian Authority.
