CAIRO - 7 July 2019: Lawyer Ayman Mahfouz filed a lawsuit on Sunday to Attorney General Nabil Sadik against the Egyptian Football Federation officials because of the Egyptian team's departure from the African Cup of Nations after hiring a coach for millions of dollars.

According to the lawsuit, Mahfouz confirmed that Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida and many board members are not exempted from legal liability, in accordance with article 119 of the Penal Code.

He demanded investigation into these charges, which include wasting the public money, and banning the officials of the Football Association from travelling.

Earlier on Sunday, Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida as well as many board members sacked the Egyptian national team coaching staff.

A great shock to the Egyptian team as they bid farewell to the African Cup in their home, after standing without doing anything, against South Africa who fought for a historic victory.

This is the first defeat for Egypt in their home since 1986, when they hosted the tournament.
