CAIRO – 7 July 2019: Egyptian authorities will launch a probe into the Egyptian Football Association’s (EFA) financial and administrative violations and irregularities, senior officials told Egypt Today on early Sunday.

The officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that a decision has been made to investigate the EFA corruption after the early shocking exit of the Egyptian National team from the Africa Cup, although the state has provided the body with all the means to give a decent performance during the competition.

The officials said that the investigation will include every aspect of the competition, however, the EFA shall be accountable for any previous corruption before the competition. The state has done massive efforts to make the competition successful, such as building airports, improving stadiums, and enhancing the infrastructure to host the Africa Cup, added the officials.

The officials vowed to question those in the EFA who was plagued with corruption and negligence.

The Egyptian National team was knocked out the second stage of the competition after being defeated by the South African team 1-o.
