CAIRO – 27 June 2019: Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi was admitted to a military hospital due to suffering “serious illness,” said the Tunisian Presidency in a statement.

Presidential first adviser for information and communication Firas Guefrech denied media outlets rumors claiming that Essebsi passed away.
“Do not follow rumors, the president’s condition is stable,” he tweeted.

The Tunisian Ministry of Interior has closed the roads leading to the presidential palace following two suicide attacks targeted police personnel in the Avenue of Habib Bourguiba on Thursday.
