CAIRO – 10 June 2017: A delegation from the House of Representatives flew to Washington Saturday to hold several meetings with U.S. congressmen. The delegation is headed by Ahmed Saeed, the Parliament’s foreign affairs committee chief.

Combating terrorism is the delegation’s top priority for its discussions in Washington.

The delegation will discuss many issues with U.S. congressmen, such as categorization of the Muslim Brotherhood, outlawed in Egypt, as a terrorist group in the U.S. The seven-day trip also seeks to improve Parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in the fields of illegal migration and investment.

Moreover, the Egyptian delegation aims at “exposing the Brotherhood’s tricks” that have sought to influence some congressmen with “baseless and misunderstood information” about Egypt, Saeed said in statements to the press.

Other parliamentarians traveling as part of the delegation are Gamal Sheha, Saad al-Gammal, Basant Fahmi, Tarek Radwan, Kareem Darweesh, Tarek al-Kholi, Emad Gad, Amna Nuseir, Dalia Youssef and Souzy Raflah.
