Fans advised to cover heads on 1st day of AFCON due to heat

CAIRO - 18 June 2019: The Egyptian Metrological Authority called on the fans of the Africa Cup of Nations to cover their heads while heading to the stadiums on Friday which marks the beginning of the summer.

The fans are also advised to drink plenty of water and juices, and wear cotton clothes.

Ahmed Abdel Aal, head of the EMA, said that the temperature is expected to rise by 3 to 4 °C from the average, as June 21 marks the beginning of Summer.

The temperature on Friday is expected to reach 34-35°C, while humidity can reach 50-60 percent.

The Africa Cup of Nations is hosted by Egypt from June 21 to July 19. Egypt will open the 2019 African nations' championship against Zimbabwe at Cairo International Stadium.
