CAIRO - 11 June 2019: British Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox described Egypt as a stable, prosperous and secure state as well as a commercial gateway to Africa and the whole region.

This came during Fox's phone call with Extra news channel on Tuesday. He added that trade relations between Egypt and his country hold a good chance for promoting bilateral cooperation in all domains.

According to Fox, there are a lot of investment opportunities in Egypt and good opportunities for bringing in skills and services to shore up the country's economy.

In March 2019, Britain’s Minister of State for the Middle East Alistair Burt asserted that Prime Minister Theresa May is looking forward to increasing coordination and cooperation with Egypt on many issues and files of priority for the two countries.

Burt's speech came during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Britain Tareq Adel in London. Burt underscored the pivotal role played by Egypt in maintaining the peace and stability of the Middle East.

The meeting between the two sides covered means of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation especially in the economic and investment domains, according to a press release by the Foreign Ministry.

In the same context, former Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil said earlier that Egyptian-British economic cooperation is deeply-rooted and based on common interests.
