CAIRO – 9 June 2019: A government official refuted on Sunday all the rumors circulated by social media platforms about the date of the increase in fuel prices in Egypt.

The official explained that the expected increase is a political decision, in which the cabinet has nothing to do with setting the date, however, the official expected the increase will take place during the few days.

The official said that the fuel prices will witness a 20 percent hike, which is considered to be the lowest increase since launching the economic reform program.

Social media users circulated a fabricated governmental statement which says that the hike is set to be applied on June 14.
