CAIRO, June 9 (MENA) – The House of Representatives in its plenary session on Sunday approved a number of articles of the government-proposed draft law to amend some provisions pertaining to the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC's) law.

The parliament's approval to the bill comes after reviewing the report prepared by the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee.

House Speaker Ali Abdel Aal announced the draft law will be referred to the State Council for revision, adding that MPs will give their final vote on Tuesday.

The bill requires the two-thirds majority to be passed and published in the official gazette, Abdel Aal noted.

Under those amendments, the president of the republic will have the power to appoint the SCC president from its among five deputies.

The president of the republic will also have the authority to appoint the SCC vice president from two nominated by its general assembly and the court head.
