CAIRO – 9 June 2017: Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa praised Egypt’s commitment to Arab solidarity and its support for its Arab brothers against any threat to their security during a meeting with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Thursday.

Khalifa further expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance to Bahrain, stressing that it will always remain a pillar of security for the region, according to a presidential statement.

The meeting addressed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the recent decision to cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar, the statement read. The two leaders emphasized that the decision had followed Qatar’s insistence on opposing other Arab states, its refusal to halt its support for terrorist organizations, and its interference in the internal affairs of Egypt, Bahrain and other Arab states.

Sisi stressed the unique quality of Egypt-Bahrain relations, praising Bahrain’s role in promoting joint Arab action in the region, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef stated.

The two parties discussed the different aspects of bilateral relations between their countries and agreed on the necessity to establish strong relations among Arab nations on the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The Egypt-Bahrain summit was followed with an extended discussion session, involving the delegations of both countries.

Sisi also expressed his gratitude to the Bahraini king for the Isa Award for Services to Humanity 2015-2017, awarded to the Children’s Cancer Hospital of Egypt 57357(CCHE) by Bahrain earlier this week.
