CAIRO - 5 May 2019: "Breast cancer early detection and treatment will be implemented for women over 18 years of age starting July 1," said Minister of Health Hala Zayed on Sunday.

Zayed's speech came during her meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli to follow up on issues related to health services under the directives of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

The meeting also tackled aspects of cooperation with Lebanon in the spheres of health and medicine, within the framework of following up the outcomes of the higher joint committee meeting recently held in Lebanon.

The Health Ministry prepared a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation and will submit it to the Lebanese side within days, the minister said.

As for president Sisi's initiative on offering hepatitis C treatment for one million Africans, Minister Zayed reviewed reports on coordination visits that have recently been paid to Sudan, Chad, Somalia, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Twenty-five tons of medicine will be sent to Sudan on Tuesday and 3.5 tons will be sent to Eritrea, the minister noted, adding that medical centers will be established across 14 African countries.

Some 3 million students have been examined as a part of hepatitis C campaign, while 10.7 million citizens have undergone malnutrition examinations.
