555 employees referred to administrative prosecution for drug abuse

CAIRO - 5 May 2019: The Ministry of Social Solidarity referred 555 employees in 10 ministries to the administrative prosecution for drug abuse, according to a report of the Drug Abuse Detection Committee.

The committee tested for drugs 15,877 employees in 10 ministries and their affiliated institutions as well as school bus drivers from the beginning of January to the end of April.

Additionally, the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction (FDCTA) of the Social Solidarity Ministry will organize several awareness meetings in institutions and ministries under the title "Maslhtak"(Your interest) to raise awareness about the dangers of substance addiction and clarify the details of the new drug law.

In November 2018, the fund launched a campaign to test 600 professional drivers for drugs in Damietta's highways, in coordination with the governor of Damietta and the Security and Health Directorate of the governorate.

The campaign revealed 59 cases of narcotics; they were referred to the prosecution to take the necessary legal measures.
