CAIRO – 13 April 2019: The Jharkhand Rai University in India has granted an honorary doctorate degree in philosophy, economic empowerment and gender equality to Dr. Maya Morsy, head of the National Council of Women (NCW), in appreciation to her efforts towards the empowerment of women.

Dr. Morsi is the second Arab and African woman, and the only one from outside India this year, to receive an honorary doctorate in this field from the University of Jharkhand Rai in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

She was conferred with the degree in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Women Empowerment and Peace.

The NCW was invited to attend the gala inaugural ceremony of the Women Economic Forum 2019 in New Delhi, India, to honor Dr. Morsi.

Nobel prize laureate Tunisian businesswoman WidedBouchamaoui was the first Arab African woman to receive an honorary doctorate degree in philosophy and women empowerment from the same university.

Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen, a psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, and author, who has written several books on the archetypal psychology of women and men in the development of spirituality, also received an honorary doctorate degree from the university along with Richard A. D’Aveni, a Bakala Professor of Strategy at Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth, USA.
