CAIRO – 5 April 2019: Under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization (ILO), April, 11.

Among 187 member countries, Egypt was chosen to host the ILO 100th anniversary celebration.

Celebrations will be held in 4 continents over 24 countries coinciding with Paris Peace Conference, 1919, where constitutional draft of the International Labor Organization was approved, said Egyptian Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saffan in a statement.

“Nominating Egypt to host the celebration of ILO does not come out of vacuum. Yet it is based upon success standards, privileges, Egypt’s special location, hard working, and huge efforts between the Egyptian ministry and the ILO,” Saffan stated in the press conference.

Saffan assured that nominating Egypt to host the celebration reflects its leading role in the Arab world in Africa, promising to hold a special celebration crowning Egypt’s position.

The ILO Cairo bureau announced the celebration in Egypt, saying “the organization will seek to improve the world of work in Egypt.”

A set of capitals will celebrate OLA’s millennium alongside Cairo such as Suva, Capital of Fiji; Manila, Capital of the Philippines; Beijing, Capital of China; Bangkok, Capital of Thailand; Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh; Colombo, Capital of Sri Lanka; New Delhi, Capital of India; and other countries.
