CAIRO – 1 April 2019: Egyptian researcher Nada Yahya el-Haggag received her Master's Degree in March 2019 at the Faculty of Arts, Japanese department, Cairo University with excellence to be the first to investigate in this field.

Following her graduation,Haggag got a one-year scholarship to Japan in honor of her brilliance and dedication. Upon choosing her Master’s dissertation, the Egyptian researcher decided to go deeper in the Japanese drama where she found her passion.

Haggag faced a lot of challenges during preparing her paper as her dissertation entitled “Ambiguous Expressions in Japanese Drama- Linguistic Study” was rare. Hence, she did not find enough books and data to support her argument.

However, she used questionnaires, books, data, and statistics to support her opinion and got her Master's Degree with distinction.

“I chose this specific topic as I have noticed the presence of multiple expressions in Japanese that have different meanings.Sometimes some idioms and expressions have a certain meaning and its antonym at the same time. These differences perplex Japanese learners who misunderstand native speakers," Haggag told Egypt Today.

“I would like to thank all my professors and supervisors who gave me a hand and supported me with knowledge: professors Adel Salah,Karam Khalil and Ahmed Adel. I am so grateful to my parents for their devotion and care,” Haggag further elaborated to Egypt Today.
