CAIRO - 26 March 2019: The Court of Cassation on Tuesday turned down an appeal by 145 defendants in the Hasm terrorist cell case against a ruling by the Cairo Criminal Court placing them on terrorism lists.

The Cairo Criminal Court had issued a ruling placing the 145 defendants on terror lists on June 13, 2018 for five years.

They are facing charges of plotting to carry out acts of armed violence inside Egypt and recruiting combat elements and training them inside and outside the country.

The list of defendants includes TV anchors Muataz Mattar, Mohamed Nasser and Hamza Zoba and preacher Wagdy Ghoneim along with others.
