CAIRO – 24 March 2019: Azhar Institute condemned a terrorist attack by militants who stormed Somali government offices in Mogadishu Saturday after setting off a car bomb, leaving at least 10 people were killed.

Al-Shabab militants claimed in a statement their responsibility for the attack that had killed number of government officials.

In its statement, Azhar said that such terrorist attacks targeting civilians indicate that perpetrators “are stripped of mercy and humanity,” adding that such acts “contradict with religious laws and international conventions.”

The world’s most prestigious Sunni Islam institution called on the international community to mobilize efforts to eradicate terrorist groups around the world, for people to live safely and peacefully.

In the statement, Azhar offered deep condolences to Somalia, its people, government and president, and to the families of the victims, besides, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
