CAIRO - 6 June 2017: A presidential delegation headed to Berlin to prepare for President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit next week. The president will participate in the African mini-summit hosted by Berlin on development in Africa.

The summit is set to discuss development efforts in Africa as well as radical ways to deal with the phenomena of illegal migration and asylum.

During her last visit to Cairo, German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited Sisi to attend the mini-summit in Berlin along with a number of African leaders.

An economic forum will be held on the sidelines of the African mini-summit, in addition to meetings with a number of energy and pharmaceutical companies.

The Egyptian president is set to head to Berlin June 11, three months after Merkel’s visit to Cairo. The German chancellor met Sisi and inaugurated the first phase of the German Simens power plant megaproject.

Sisi met with Merkel in May 2015 during his first official visit to Germany since assuming the presidency in 2014. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties.
