CAIRO – 6 June 2017: An emergency committee of representatives from five ministries was formed Tuesday to discuss the affairs of Egyptians in Qatar. So far, Doha has not taken any steps regarding Egyptian laborers in the small Gulf state.

The committee includes representatives from the ministries of defense, foreign affairs, interior, manpower and migration.

The Ministry of Migration and Egyptians Abroad allocated a hotline, 19887, to receive the complaints of Egyptian nationals in Qatar in the framework of the government’s plan to moderate the consequences of Egypt’s decision to sever ties with Qatar on Monday.

The ministry is also making list of job opportunities for Egyptian citizens that may return from Qatar at any moment.

Egypt, along with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Yemen, Libya’s eastern-based government and the Maldives, severed diplomatic ties with Doha on Monday over accusations that Qatar is backing terrorist groups.
