CAIRO – 6 June 2017: Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi met his French counterpart Sylvie Goulard on Mondayto discuss enhancing bilateral military cooperation, the Egyptian military spokesperson announced.

Sobhi welcomed the French minister at the Ministry of Defense headquarters, where they tackled ways to unify their views over a number of current issues, mainly the counter-terrorism efforts in the Middle East.

During their meeting, Sobhi asserted Egypt’s keenness to boost relations with France in different fields, especially the military, which reflects positively on the whole region.
For her part, Goulard praised the Egyptian military’s efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, asserting that Egypt’s policies support security and stability on both regional and international levels.

Goulard’s visit marks the first encounter with Sobhi, following the election of French President Emmanuel Macron.
