CAIRO – 1 March 2019: The Egyptian-German Parliamentary Group held a meeting with Thomas Oppermann, vice president of the Bundestag and his delegation to discuss boosting mutual cooperation.

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance and expand cooperation between Egyptian and German parliaments in light of their distinctive relationships and deeply rooted ties.

“We are keen on activating mutual cooperation between the two parties," Parliamentarian Mohamed el-Arabi, the president of the Egyptian-German Parliamentary Group, stated.

The two parties discussed issues of common concern such as illegal immigration and decided to intensify efforts to put an end for this problem.

Moreover, Parliamentarian Sylvia Nabil stressed the necessity of exchanging experiences in the field of women affairs and their contribution to the Parliament.

In a similar vein, the vice President of the German Parliament expressed readiness to strengthen relations with the Egyptian Parliament on the economic, social and political fronts.

Oppermann thanked all members of the Egyptian-German Parliamentary Group for their devotion, dedication and rich discourse, giving them a souvenir from the Bundestag that symbolizes the strong bonds between the two parliaments.

It is worth mentioning that Sahar Nasr, minister of investment and international cooperation, headed to Berlin last week to chair the Egyptian-German Joint Committee where she met with a set of senior officials.
